RESIDENCE PERMITS
Any foreigner intending to reside in the United Republic of Tanzania for investment, business, employment or any other legal activity may be issued with Residence Permit or Pass.
KEY INFORMATION TO APPLICANTS OF RESIDENCE PERMITS
Application for e-Residence Permit should be lodged Online. Due to the nature of application and location of the applicants, applicants are advised to specify where they would like their applications to be processed, either at the Immigration Service Department’s Headquarters, the Zanzibar Head Office, Tanzania Investment Center (TIC), Export and Processing Zone Authority (EPZA) or the Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority (ZIPA).
In order for the applicant to be capable of applying for Residence Permits online he/she should undergo the following procedures:
There are three main types of Residence Permits, which are Residence Permit Class A, B and C. These types may be splited into various other cattegories depending on the scale, industry or holder's designation/Occupation.

May be granted to a person who intends to enter or remain in Tanzania and engage on self-employed investment in the field of prospecting and Mining, Agriculture and animal husbandry, profession and Consultancy Services, Professional Arts, Manufacturing and Processing, Larger scale Investment and Trade, Hospitality Industry and related activities, Information Technology and IT activities, Transport and Linguistics, Construction Industry, Real Estate Industry and other Investments. The applicant can apply electronically to the Immigration headquarters, Zanzibar head office, Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC), Export Processing Zone Authority (EPZA) and Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority (ZIPA)

VALIDITY OF RESIDENCE PERMIT
The maximum validity of any class of Residence Permit will not exceeed two years, and it may be renewable. Indeed, the validity of Residence Permit may depend on:

MIGRANT PASS
This Pass is issued to persons of African descents from bordering countries or any other person as may be prescribed under the Regulations; who migrated into the United Republic of Tanzania before 1972 and continues to reside without having a passport or identification of any other country. The following are requirements:

WHERE/ HOW TO LODGE APPLICATION
Application for Student and Migrant Pass may be lodged at Immigration Services Department, Kurasini Dar Es Salaam or at the Zanzibar Immigration Head Office. All applications from Regions must start from Regional Immigration offices, failure of it the application will not be accepted.
